RUBBER REUSE ( HIGH TEMPERATURE VULCANIZATION / CURE ELASTOMERS; SILICONES & LIQUID SILICONE RUBBERS / LSR)

To understand the suitability for recycling of elastomers, it is essential to distinguish between the plastic State of the elastic State and «plastics» consequently rubbers.

Before vulcanization, elastomers consist of a whole messy polymeric chains covered by the various ingredients needed for their processing with polymer chains which slide on each other (Nothing does retain them).

This is the case of thermoplastic polymers that are not cross-linking and are easy to recycle.

After vulcanization, the state change is important, we arrived at the elastic State. The polymeric chains accept drag a little power but are quickly learned. A network of bridges, chains chains, requires them to take their place.

The formation of bridges called CROSSLINKING will prohibit any return to the plastic State and will make it difficult to recycling of Vulcanized elastomers.

However, after a selection which can be seen as criteria:
• nature of the elastomer
• color
• rate and nature of charges...
two solutions are available mainly to professionals: the way chemical and mechanical way.

The chemical way

Vulcanized wastes are crushed mechanically and then rolled in the presence of chemical agents that are responsible for breaking the bridges created by vulcanization and depolymerize.

The incorporation of this rubber 'refreshed' in a formulation will have consequences:
• decrease the cost of the mixture.
• continuation of chemical provided it incorporates held the 'refreshed' having the same elastomer base than that of the formula.
• drop sensitive mechanical properties.
We should remember this solution for the production of little technical parts.

The mechanical way

Recycling industries produce a "crumb" by grinding and sieving. The finest particles are 0.05 mm

The incorporation of this rubber "crumb" in a formulation will have consequences:
• decrease the cost of the mixture.
• conducting chemical provided it incorporates the crumb with the same elastomer base than that of the formula.
• drop sensitive mechanical properties.
We should remember this solution for the production of little technical parts.

FYI, the coated elastic coating of road or soils of sports equipment are an outlet for the recycling of rubber elastomers (tyres..).
More than 50% of the waste are used in this way.

For info, it also uses high calorific value of rubber feed furnaces (in particular cement).

Knight and CHEVALIER

The production of parts by injection limited the weight of waste to the mini carrot and carrot water.
This type of technology generates a very small loss of material.
Direct injection eliminates any material loss in the trial.
The quantities of waste represents only a small percentage of material implementation, these are not recycled and are valued in industrial waste.
